I have been participating in a few challenges this year, but have yet to do any official update posts. Well, here’s my first!! At the end of March, I have read and reviewed a total of five books. Four of them arcs from netgalley. Not bad, indie. Not bad. I had a brief reading dry spell, but am right on track to reading 70 books this year.

WHAT I’VE READ 

The first book and reviewed this month was What Nora Knew by Linda Yellin.  The Nora in question is of course one of *the* Nora’s, the late Nora Ephron. A light read, I gave this book four stars.  I enjoyed myself, laughing and, maybe I shed a tear. Maybe.

The second book was Don’t Even Think About It by Sarah Mlynowski.  A funny YA novel where a high school homeroom gets ESP after flu shots gone wrong. I thought it would be corny and cheesy, but found it entertaining with a three star review.

My third read of the month was The Moon Sisters by Therese Walsh. In this slow moving novel, two sisters mourn the death of their mother in their own way. Yet, grief leads them on a boring journey hopping on and off a train trying to go to the glades that inspired their mother’s unfinished only novel. I was generous enough to give  this novel two stars.

By far my favorite book I read this month, my fourth book was The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton. I can’t say enough good things about this gem of a book that tells the story of four generations of women and the way love affected them. Truly a great read that I easily gave five stars.

A true finale, I finished up this month with the last book in the Ruby Red trilogy by Kerstin Gier. The last book in this YA Fantasy time traveling series, I wasn’t disappointed. I was still surprised at the end, although I figured out most of the mysteries. It deserved the four star review.

WHAT I’M READING NOW

I am currently over half way through. It’s not a stellar read. there’s a little too much going on that isn’t quite connected to each other. it is more like Woolf is just free writing. some of it makes sense, some of it not so much. There is something appealing, though. her descriptions are long, but beautiful and realistic.

An arc, I have had this marked on my currently reading shelf since March 12th and have yet to read page one. Will do once I finish Mrs. Dalloway.

WHAT I WILL READ AND REVIEW IN APRIL

This is a young science fiction novel about a girl from the future. Another arc I have to review. I’m looking forward to this one because I have always enjoyed Ann Brashares writing style. And, time travel. I love time travel and forbidden romances.

A cyber dystopian novel that will be released April 8th. I have an E-arc copy I need to review. It sounds intriguing. A world with no bookstores? Horrifying. A world that I don’t want to live to see; but, live to read about, why not?

A historical fiction novel that will also be released April 8th. I am excited about this one because I love historical fiction; and, I haven’t read so much about the French as I have about the Tudors.

I probably shouldn’t start with number 6 in the series, but I’m doing it! It sounds so good. Hopefully, I’ll get so caught up you’ll find reviews of the first five, too. She’ll be at BEA this year, which I am attending. I hope I get to meet here.

Pretty, pretty cover. And cool dead people. I just downloaded this book from audible. I can’t wait to start this.

So long March. It’s been a good month. Hello, April. More good books to come. Of course the list of books above are all tentative. I tend to change my mind A LOT!
